In Conversation with Akshat Jain, Co-Founder of 100Hands

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming Akshat Jain, co-founder of 100Hands, to our store.

Founded in Amsterdam by Akshat and his wife, Varvara, 100Hands has earned an international reputation for producing some of the world's finest shirts. While the brand is based in the Netherlands, every shirt is crafted in India, where Akshat's family has worked in the textile industry for more than 160 years.

In the first part of our conversation, Akshat shares how 100Hands came to be, why the brand takes pride in being transparent about its production in India, and how an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship has shaped its identity from the very beginning.

Watch the interview here.

"The name 100Hands came up because it reflected the whole process. Each shirt passes through around 50 people, so the name is dedicated to the process rather than just a brand image."

-AJ
"A shirt looks like the simplest product, but once you start, you realise it may be the most complicated. There's nowhere to hide—the fit is right on your body."

-AJ
"Before anyone produces even a single piece, they go through almost one and a half years of training. Not two months or six weeks—one and a half years before any artisan can work on a finished shirt."
